One of the special ruin bars in Budapest is the complex of the Elesztohaz ‘institute’ with a charming open-air terrace and a huge selection of craft beers that will give you a taste of Hungarian and other craft beers (unless you want to go on a fancier Craft Beer Cruise in Budapest, which is also an option).

Elesztohaz (House of Revival/Resurrection, or Yeast as it’s a homonym or what) has a telling name: this revolutionary bar has a mission to be the best craft beer selling place in Hungary thus reviving old traditions and aching bodies through the wonders of YEAST.

The ruin bar offers craft beer tastings, courses making craft beers, in case you want to pick up a new and sensible hobby. Elesztohaz also features a theater- restaurant, or home restaurant, an accommodation for the beer-weary traveller called Hopstel (hostel for beer lovers), a coffee shop, a Wine Piano aka “Vinopiano”, which is a Wine and Tapas Bar (no piano), and a restaurant called the Butchers Kitchen. A very versatile ruin bar in Budapest indeed, worth a visit.

In the cask ale bar, we can find all sorts of – realistic – dreams pursued by beer lovers, more than 20 beer varieties of beers are draught every day. Unless you dream of a mobile beer complex walking along with you whenever you wish to reach behind for a mug.

In Elesztohaz ruin pub, we can find Hungarian and international craft beers, from the well-known brands to the small breweries limited beers. Do we need to say it again? Or did we mention it already? Anyway, let’s blame it on the craft beer.

The gigantic complex of the ruin bar is in a hundred-year-old building, a nice cosy hangar that plans to be the craft beer haven in Budapest with the promising name Elesztohaz, which means “Yeast” (or metaphorically revival). The building was originally a glassblowing workshop and has been used as a parking lot for years. The Eleszto (for short) has opened in 2013 and since then has been at the service of jolly good beer fans with inspiring underground atmosphere and friendly staff. Come and visit the ruin bars of Budapest for a bit of comfort.
